Carrot.pl — damaged-car auction portal (maintenance & operations)
Overview
Carrot.pl is Poland's largest portal for damaged-car auctions. I am responsible for the ongoing maintenance and operations of the whole service — from the public layer (WordPress), through the staging environment, to edge infrastructure, data integrations, the GitHub account and security.
Scope
- Production & staging — parallel management of carrot.pl and the testwww.carrot.pl environment (auth-gated staging), so changes are verified before going live.
- Cloudflare — edge configuration: firewall/WAF, traffic and redirect rules, caching and performance, DNS and SSL/TLS. Bot-traffic mitigation and protection of the staging environment.
- Vehicle stock from the auction API — an integration that pulls the vehicle inventory from the auction platform (aukcje.carrot.pl) and presents the current offer on the site (car catalogue, featured auctions) with data sync.
- GitHub — managing the account/organization and repositories: access control, versioning, a branch-and-pull-request workflow, backups and change history.
- Security — WordPress hardening, updates, access control, staging protection and monitoring, keeping the service stable under heavy traffic.
Nature of the engagement
This is a commercial project run as continuous maintenance and development — and at the same time a good case study, as it spans the front end (WordPress), infrastructure (Cloudflare), data integration (auction API) and process (GitHub, security).
Draft copy — to be completed with specifics (exact Cloudflare rules, integration scope, measurable outcomes).
